SCA / Green Coffee Intermediate
The Green Coffee Intermediate course offered by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) is a training program that falls between the beginner and advanced levels and focuses on green coffee, which is coffee in its unroasted form.
The course builds upon the skills acquired in the Green Coffee Foundation course, providing a more detailed overview of the knowledge and expertise necessary to understand the green coffee supply chain. Students will learn about botany and agronomy, processing methods and their cupping results, defects and their classification, contract drafting for green coffee, quality variables and green coffee storage, market terminology, decaffeination, and certification bodies and mechanisms.
The Green Coffee Intermediate course by the SCA is open to anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding of green coffee, including enthusiasts, baristas, and coffee industry professionals. At the end of the course, students can take an exam to obtain an internationally recognized certification that attests to their fundamental skills in the field of green coffee.
