In the Temanggung region, at the heart of the island of Java, one of the finest Robustas in the world is cultivated: Java Temanggung. This area, located between 500 and 900 meters above sea level, is renowned for its mineral-rich volcanic soils and an ideal microclimate, which promote the growth of a superior-quality Robusta. Here, the tradition of coffee cultivation has been passed down for generations, combining ancient knowledge with modern techniques.
The G1 (Grade 1) classification represents the highest quality level for Robusta, with a rigorous selection process that ensures uniform beans, free from primary defects, and with controlled moisture levels. Moreover, unlike many other Robustas processed using natural or semi-washed methods, this Temanggung Robusta undergoes a Fully Washed process, giving it a cleaner and more balanced profile, with greater aromatic complexity compared to traditional processing methods.

In Temanggung, the Fully Washed processing of Robusta follows a meticulous method that enhances its cleanliness and aromatic complexity. After selective harvesting, the cherries are pulped within a few hours, removing the outer skin while leaving the beans covered in mucilage.
They are then fermented in water tanks for 12-36 hours, softening the remaining pulp, which is subsequently washed away. The coffee is then slowly sun-dried until it reaches the ideal moisture level before the final selection.
This method gives Temanggung Robusta a cleaner and more balanced profile.
