Puerto Rico Hacienda San Pedro

It all began in the 19th century when a thirteen-year-old Spanish boy arrived in Jayuya with just one suitcase and a thousand dreams. Emeterio Atienza, besides being a dreamer, was also a tireless worker, and in a short time, he became the manager of one of the most prestigious coffee shops in Puerto Rico.

But Don Emeterio was not just an excellent businessman; his passion for the land led him to become a great farmer as well. By teaching the farmers who worked in the coffee plantations, he earned everyone's respect thanks to his wisdom and perseverance. In 1930, after years of hard work, he finally managed to purchase his own farm in the Coabey district of Jayuya, naming it Hacienda San Pedro.

Every morning, on horseback, Don Emeterio personally inspected all his plants, checking each one carefully. Each plant had a name, a tradition carried on first by his son Alberto and today by his grandson Roberto, in honor of a long-standing family legacy.

The coffee cultivated at Café Hacienda San Pedro is entirely handpicked and processed with the same artisanal care that Don Emeterio envisioned. After harvesting, the beans are left to dry in old barrels, following a method passed down from generation to generation. Four generations of dedication and passion have made this coffee one of the most renowned in the world, thanks to its unique and distinctive character.
